Overview
Cruise the Yangtze River on Viking Emerald, a beautiful, state-of-the-art river cruise vessel built for the 2011 sailing season. Accommodating 264 guests with full balconies, hotel-style beds in every spacious suite and stateroom and an outstanding crew, Viking Emerald is one of the most sophisticated river ships in the world. The ship’s hotel operations are 100% managed by Viking River Cruises Swiss-trained management team, employing the best and most knowledgeable English-speaking staff. Enjoy one of the Viking Emerald’s roomy 269-square-foot staterooms, or treat yourself to a junior suite or suite at 301 square feet and 327 square feet respectively. Or perhaps you would enjoy one of the two 840-square-foot presidential suites, with king-sized bed, separate sitting room and private wraparound balcony. The choice is yours!

Sun Deck
Enjoy sunshine, fresh air and sweeping views of the scenery as you sail through the Yangtze’s stunning Three Gorges region and beyond. Stand at the railings or relax in a comfortable deck chair. The observation deck is covered for those who prefer shade.

Emerald Bar
Located on the Sun Deck level, the Emerald Bar has panoramic windows and tables and chairs arranged in various configurations—an excellent place to relax over a drink and enjoy conversation or a book while you watch the scenery, or meet up with friends before and after meals.

Health Club facilities
Relax and rejuvenate on the Sun Deck level! Enjoy the gym, take a sauna, have a massage—then have your hair done at the beauty salon.

Reading Room
Located on the Sun Deck level, the reading room carries English-language books about China—both fiction and nonfiction—which you can borrow and take to the Sun Deck or to your room during your voyage. There are also games such as chess, backgammon, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards.

Observation Lounge
This spacious bar area, featuring large picture windows and about three dozen small tables with comfortable chairs, is an excellent place to relax over a drink and enjoy conversation or a book while you watch the scenery, or meet up with friends before and after meals. It is located on the same level as the Suites. The 24-hour coffee station is adjacent to the Observation Lounge, so you can enjoy a delicious coffee drink or get something from the Lounge Bar.

Onboard Boutique
Located on the Observation Deck, the onboard boutique offers items to help you enjoy—or remember—your journey. There is an excellent selection of gift items to bring home. There is also an onboard tailor, who can create custom-made silk jackets, dresses and other items usually in less than one day.

Internet Café
The internet café offers computers where you can check your email free of charge.

Coffee station
Enjoy a coffee drink or snack any time of the day or night at the coffee station on the Observation Deck.

Restaurant
Located on the Main Deck, the restaurant is where all meals are served during your cruise. It features panoramic windows, so you will not miss any of the scenery while you are dining. It seats all guests at tables which accommodate 8 guests each. The dining room is open seating, so you are free to sit where you like—a great way to make new friends. The atmosphere is casual but elegant, with high-quality table linens, china, cutlery and glassware.
